We welcome all abilities. Training is every Thursday:

  • Youth 7:30pm – 9:00pm,
  • Seniors (Men & Women) 8:30pm – 10pm,
There is additional Seniors (Men & Women) on Tuesdays 8:15pm – 9:15pm for a more advanced & intense session.

To encourage new members we offer 2 free sessions so you can try out the sport and get a feel for our club.

We welcome anyone who is aged 10+ who is comfortable in deep water – the pool we train in is 2 metres deep(!).. just fill out the form below.

We know there can be interest from those younger than 10 and from March 2022 there will be external sessions on Saturdays mornings (9am – 9:40am) with one of our coaches at MBC. Suitable for swimmers around stage 7.

Ask for further details here – thanks.

Your First Training Session?

When you enter the Mountbatten Centre please let reception know you are there for water polo and they will let you through. Get changed and come on to poolside – down the scoreboard end (pool b) – if Trevor (Chairman & Coach) or Tim (Club Secretary) is not yet there, other club members will be around to chat with.

During a trial session you will get a chance to see what is involved in various aspects of training and game play and you’ll get a good idea of your level of (water polo) fitness.

What To Bring

All you need is appropriate swimwear together with bags of energy and enthusiasm!

The club provides the water polo goals, hats and balls during training. In addition, we recommend that you bring a pair of goggles to wear during the general warm up session.

Where / When

Trials are incorporated into our normal Thursday training sessions which are held at the Mountbatten Centre (Alex Way, Portsmouth PO2 9QA, map) – check out session times here.

Sign Up Now

If you’re new to water polo it can take more than one session to find out if the sport is for you so you’re welcome to come along for free to sessions over a three week period. After that you will need to sign up to the club’s monthly payments and join Swim England (the sport’s national governing body).

Please complete the following form – and let us know something about your age/ability in the comments section – we’ll be in touch and look forward to seeing you at the pool. Please note we will pass your name on to reception so you can gain free entry for your trial.

Please note we run a reduced schedule through August with no training for Juniors – and a joint Seniors and Intermediates session which would not be ideal for new beginners.
